Hello there! I’d like to thank you again for making last week’s event a huge success. There were people still coming on the line 3-quarters of the way through the slides. WOW!

As promised, here is the download link to last week’s “Live” online copywriting workshop. I hope you learned a lot because there’s more where that came from; even coming up this month.

95% of the questions asked were answered during the night’s teachings. When you listen to the audio again, you’ll get more out of it.

Here are the other questions for your review.

  1. How does one become a copywriter?
    1. First, you have to have a desire to understand the psychology behind copywriting to be really effective. Without this you’re just constructing sentences and copywriting is way more than that.
    2. Second, become a serious student of copywriting – take some courses, read some books, think about joining a coaching program, etc. This is a must in my book.
    3. Third, get some experience. Start with writing your own copy for your business. All of your sales and marketing material need copy.
    4. Go get clients… There’s more than one way to skin a cat. I’ll be covering this extensively in upcoming workshops.
    5. Check out these 2 audio files. Basic stuff but great advice – www.shinesmarketing.com/downloads/Advice_To_A_Copywriter_A+.mp3 www.shinesmarketing.com/downloads/Advice_To_A_Copywriter_B+.mp3

  1. What books do you recommend?
    1. Perfect Phrases for Lead Generation by William T. Brooks
    2. Perfect Phrases for Sales and Marketing Copy by Barry Callen
    3. The Everything Guide to Writing Copy
    4. And… Power Sales Words By Vicky Oliver
  1. Can you explain what a “Swipe File” is again?
    1. Swipe files are your collection of marketing materials of all sorts, sales letters, postcards, magazine ads, audio, videos, etc. that you use to get ideas for either copy that you’re going to write or marketing materials that you are going to develop. A reference file for you to use when getting started, when you get stuck, when you run out of ideas, get writers block, etc.
  1. Where do you start when you are about to write a marketing piece for a client?
    1. Research, research, research… - Most people miss this point completely. Why research? Because you have to completely perform a mind shift and put yourself in the prospect’s shoes. Research will help you do this.
    2. In the next upcoming workshop, it will be a 3-dayer for 2 hours a pop; I am going to go through the whole methodology from start to finish. This is what sets apart great copywriters from good copywriters.

Again, every other question asked was answered in the workshop, my hand to God!
